Control module defect, Volvo recalls part of XC90/S90

[Autohome News] Recently, Volvo Cars Sales (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. and Daqing Volvo Cars Manufacturing Co., Ltd. filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the "Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products" and the "Measures for the Implementation of the Regulations on the Administration of Recall of Defective Automobile Products". It is decided to recall the following vehicles from July 1, 2021:

Volvo (imported) Volvo XC90 2020 T6 Zhiya Sports Edition 7 seats

" (| |) "

Volvo Asia Pacific, Volvo S90 2020 T5 Smart Deluxe Edition

"Volvo S90"

Scope of recall:

  From April 15, 2016 to May 18, 2020, a total of 82 imported XC90 vehicles were produced.

  From May 5, 2018 to August 21, 2019, a total of 3 domestic S90 long-wheelbase vehicles were produced.

Reason for recall:

For vehicles within the scope of this recall, due to design reasons, the rear seat control module may detect an incorrect continuous touch signal when there is liquid on the display. When the user calls up the seat adjustment interface in the rear seat control module, if there is liquid on the control module display and the user attempts to adjust the front passenger seat, the front passenger seat may move to the limit position. If the liquid persists, the screen may not be able to be re-controlled, resulting in the front passenger seat control may be cancelled.

In extreme cases, when the front passenger seat is moved to the extreme position, the person in the rear seat may get stuck and cause injury, posing a safety hazard.

Solution:

Free upgrade of rear seat control module software to eliminate safety hazards.

Emergency response measures:

Before the vehicle recalls and upgrades the software, the user should confirm that there is no liquid on the surface of the control module display before adjusting the position of the front passenger seat through the rear seat control module.
