On October 12th, Kia held the annual Kia EV Day, and launched three new small and medium-sized electric vehicles. Among them, the interior of Kia EV5 was officially exposed. This car had previously announced the pre-sale price of 159,800-229,800 yuan at the 2023 Chengdu Auto Show, and will be officially listed at the 2023 Guangzhou Auto Show.
Kia EV5
EV5 is the third pure electric vehicle of KIA KIA EV series after EV6 and EV9, and it will also be the first EV series produced in China. Kia EV5 adopts the brand’s unique "Opposites United" design concept, adopts a brand-new digital front face with a roaring tiger and a hidden star map lamp.
The side lines of KIA EV5 car body are more tough, with thick black decorative panels at the wheel eyebrows and side skirts, suspended roof, blackened rearview mirror and luggage rack, which further enhances the overall fashion sense. In terms of body size, the length, width and height of the new car are 4,615 * 1,875 * 1,715mm, and the wheelbase is 2750mm, with a five-seat layout.
The interior shape of EV5 is similar to that of EV9, and the overall layout is simple and bright. The center console adopts double 12.3-inch screens, while retaining certain physical buttons. EV5 is equipped with Kia’s latest generation ccNC in-vehicle infotainment system, and supports OTA upgrade of the whole vehicle. In addition, a lot of environmentally friendly materials are used in the car of KIA EV5, and most of the environmentally friendly materials will be used in the subsequent KIA EV series models, which will be made into seat covering materials, interior decoration parts, covering parts, carpets and so on.
The EV5 is equipped with the second-generation highway driver assistance system (HDA2), which can help drivers realize the functions of keeping the distance between vehicles, driving in the middle of the lane, changing lanes and adjusting the lateral position. In addition, the new car is equipped with the second generation Remote Intelligent Parking Assist (RSPA 2) system, which can automatically drive the vehicle into the designated parking space by controlling the throttle, brake and gear shift.
In the China market, EV5 will offer three versions: standard endurance version, long endurance version and long endurance four-wheel drive version. The standard cruising model is equipped with a 64kWh battery pack and a 160kW motor, and its CLTC standard cruising range is 530km. The long-endurance vehicle is equipped with 88kWh battery and the same 160kW motor, and the target cruising range is 700km. The long-life four-wheel drive version will be equipped with an 88kWh battery pack, with a comprehensive output of 230kW, a front-wheel motor of 160kW and a rear-wheel motor of 70kW.
Kia EV3 concept car
The EV3 concept car represents Kia’s vision for the development of a compact pure electric SUV. This car provides users with the technology, practical functions and design of Kia’s flagship SUV EV9 with a compact and convenient structure. Although it is a concept car, the overall shape is very mature.
From the appearance, the EV3 concept car follows the design style of Kia pure electric vehicle. The whole car is composed of a large number of straight lines, and the iconic "Tiger Roar" front face is not absent. On the side of the car body, the long roof line inclines downward, forming the unique outline of the cockpit. The solid structure of the square wheel arch adopts unconventional design and is cut at an asymmetric angle, which is impressive.
The car uses a lot of fabric texture materials, which seems to be expected to focus on home style. The car is not equipped with multi-function buttons, and the dual-spoke steering wheel is equipped with a large-size screen and a floating seat, which is more futuristic. In addition, EV3 is claimed to be the first model equipped with generative AI in Kia, and functions such as schedule management, route optimization, travel planning, entertainment and even emergency rescue can be completed by voice assistant with built-in generative AI.
Kia EV4 concept car
Compared with EV3 and EV4, the shape of EV4 is more sci-fi. Kia positioned this car as a pure electric coupe, and adopted a more concise and fierce design. A large number of broken lines are used in the front face, and the vertically arranged LED headlamps on both sides are matched with the raised ribs on the engine room cover to create a downward dive posture. In addition, the car also has a two-color wheel eyebrow, a lower enclosure design and a suspended roof.
As for the interior, EV4 has also studied the family design style, such as hidden air outlet, double spoke steering wheel and double screen. The car has a five-seat layout, and the back seat is a minimalist home style. The overall interior design and appearance form a sharp contrast. In addition, the EV4 also has an SUV-level ground clearance, which the official said can maximize the use of space.
